Meet Report
Well, I was very pleased at the performance of the guys this weekend, and i think that they were surprised at what they were able to accomplish. I am not going to go through all of the results beacuse I will post them below and you can check them out. There were a total of 25 guys from three schools that showed up, which up from the 4 of last year. I think that this meet will continue to grow and I look forward to being involved in it.

Power Meet
This Saturday is the day, I will be hosting the NMSMC Powerlifting Meet at Petoskey High School. I think that it will be rather small and low key this year but hoping to build it in future years. If you want to lift and have not contacted me, you can do so by e-mail, or just show up the day of the meet. Good luck to all of those lifting.

CrossFit Certification
So Phil and I took the long trip (4 hrs) to Ann Arbor this weekend for a CrossFit certification seminar at Doug Chapman's HyperFit USA. The Cert was phenomenal and we got to meet a lot of the great CrossFiters' who in real life are more amazing than I could have thought. Doug's facility is awesome, the amount of room and "real" equipment that he has makes me want to move just to train there.
Coach Glassman is a great speaker, and although nothing was earth shatteringly new to me it was great reinforcement of many principles that I consider to be true. One thing that really came through in the seminar portion was the passion that Coach and Nicole and Annie had for what they do and what they represent. I came away thinking for these guys this is not a job, it is more of a way of life.
If you can find the time and money I would recommend the cert. course, it will change your outlook on what fitness is. Check it out here www.crossfit.com and Doug's place www.hyperfitusa.com

So I was reading on the website of another strength coach who I believe is now at a DI school. This was on his website and I thought that is was so great that we can all learn how to act correctly in a gym, I said gym, not health club or golds, a gym.
Gym Rules
-This gym exists to provide serious athletes and lifters with the equipment, coaching, and environment necessary to take their performance to the next level
-Don't ask about 'personal trainers'. Personal trainer certificates might as well be found in the bottom of a cereal box, and are just as mindless to acquire
-If you want specialized training, then you may obtain the professional services of the gym owner
-If you are good to go, then use the gym as your own
-This is not a social club
-Cell phone use is prohibited inside the gym
-Do not bring a cell phone inside the gym
-The gym does not have a waiting area
-There is only one reason for being inside the gym:
Training
-There is no gym like this in the area; not even close
-The music will get loud
-Chalk use is standard and necessary to lift big weights
-Wear what ever you want
-If you want a towel, bring your own
-If you want something to drink, bring it
-If you train in this gym you are a representative of it
-If you demonstrate a poor example you are out
-If you screw around you are out. No questions. No debate. No refund
awesome JS
